2.5 million more jobs
Working Paper No. 36
by Lucie Gadenne, Richard Given, Marcia Stephens and Caitlin Wilkinson
This report presents analysis on the labour market and how it has grown in recent years. There are now 2.5 million more people in work than in 1997, and the UK has one of the highest employment rates on record, standing at 74.6%. This is above the EU average, and in fact all regions have an employment rate above the EU, and 388 or the 406 Local Authorities do too.
It uses the Labour Force Survey as its main data source and presents findings at a national, and sub national level, as well as looking at individual industries, patterns of work, and vacancies.
