The first Chief Executive of the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) has been confirmed as Myra Kinghorn, currently a non-executive director of the Serious Fraud Office and a member of the OPRA Board.
The appointment was announced today by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Andrew Smith, who was addressing the ‘UK-US Dialogue on Pensions’ seminar in Windsor.
Andrew Smith said:
“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Myra Kinghorn as the new Chief Executive of the PPF. Myra will work closely with Lawrence Churchill in his capacity as PPF Chair, and together they will shape and run this important new organisation.
“The breadth of experience and expertise in the financial and pensions world that Myra brings to the PPF will be key to its success in improving security for pension scheme members.”
Myra Kinghorn said:
“I am delighted to accept this unique and challenging post. To be the first Chief Executive of the PPF will be a demanding role and there is a lot to deliver. I am very enthusiastic about the opportunity to set up and lead this new, high profile and important organisation, which I believe will significantly improve both protection for pension scheme members and confidence in pensions in general.”
Ministers are meeting today with top pensions experts from both sides of the Atlantic to share experiences and expertise in meeting the retirement challenges common to both countries. The event will enable further joint working as well as policy development and research.
