3 September 2004 - Dixons group joins forces with Jobcentre Plus
Dixons Group will fill more than 1,000 new positions annually with the help of Jobcentre Plus after a new recruitment agreement was signed today.
An innovative partnership arrangement has been agreed which will provide Dixons Group with account management support from the Employer Services Directorate at Jobcentre Plus.
As part of the agreement, Dixons Group will consider applications from jobseekers through the agency, including those on New Deal, part of the Government’s strategy to help people move from welfare to work.
Mark Grimshaw, Employer Services Director for Jobcentre Plus said: “This agreement further strengthens what is already a very important partnership for both our organisations. Dixons’ vacancies will be open to the widest selection of jobseekers possible, enabling the Group to build a stronger workforce.
“Jobseekers will be able to access vacancies through a variety of channels, including our network of Jobcentre offices, our website, which is the no.1 recruitment website with over 600,000 visits per week and Jobseeker Direct, our telephone service.”
Dixons Group plc, includes Dixons, Currys, PC World and The Link, and has a long-standing relationship with Jobcentre Plus, part of the Department for Work and Pensions, and the largest employment agency in the UK.
Jobcentre Plus offers a comprehensive service for employers in a tightening labour market. This includes Field Account Management specialists who provide recruitment advice and guidance through the Jobcentre Plus Employer Services Directorate.
David Longbottom, Group HR Director, Dixons Group said: “We have been working very closely with Jobcentre Plus in recent years. This agreement will speed up our recruitment with a tried and tested structure that has been proven to deliver results.”
The Dixons Group has a history of working closely with government and has supported the New Deal since its introduction.
