How we deliver
The Commercial Directorate services are set out in Shared
Service Agreements (SSAs) with all our main customer businesses.
In summary, services provided by the four Commercial Directorate
divisions are as follows.
Commercial Strategy and Development
Responsible for:
- providing commercial framework giving DWP wide commercial strategy and policy;
- delivering high quality commercial intelligence to commercial customers;
- providing commercial assurance;
- ensuring continuous improvement of commercial function by reviewing and embeddibng new processes, tools and techniques;
- enabling the continuous improvement of procurement professionals within DWP.
Strategic Sourcing
Responsible for:
- developing the DWP strategy for approaching new and emerging markets to give best VFM;
- continually identify savings opportunities across customers
- transitioning these strategies to Category Teams.
Commercial Management
Responsible for:
- whole life management of established market categories and contracts within those categories;
- maintaining category strategies defining how DWP should approach each market to give best value for money;
- continually idenitfy and implement savings opportunities across customers;
- interface with customers on operational commercial matters;
- supporting Demand Management by directing customer spend through most appropriate commercial channel;
- acting as lead relationship owner for strategic suppliers (lead SRM) including measurement and management of supplier performance.
Commercial Management (Contracted Employment Provision)
Responsible for the procurement of client facing services which equip job seekers with the skills and behaviours to better compete in the labour market and secure sustainable employment.
