Welfare to Work Services

This section provides information for external organisations interested in or delivering services on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) for customers who are of working age and require help, and support, to get a job and stay in work. Currently this includes programmes such as the New Deals, Employment Zones, Pathways to Work and a range of support for disabled people in employment.

Details of recent Welfare Reform legislation and other key documents (including the December 2008 White Paper entitled “Raising expectations and increasing support: reforming welfare for the future”) are available under Welfare Reform.

In February 2008 a new approach to sourcing, procuring and managing employability provision was announced in DWP’s Commissioning Strategy. It marked a major milestone in DWP’s welfare to work programme and is the foundation on which DWP will take forward the key recommendations described by David Freud in his report “Reducing Dependency, Increasing Opportunity” published in March 2007.
